A dispatch from Massillon states that Jess Wilson, a boatman, had cut his wife's throat from ear to ear at that place Wednesday night. The murder was committed in an upstairs room at 5 p.m. Wednesday. A domestic went to call Mrs. Wilson and found her lying on a bed covered with blood, a bloody knife lying on the floor. Alarm was sounded and Mrs. Wilson remained conscious long enough to accuse her husband of the crime. The police followed Wilson overtaking him in a forest near that city. His hands and garments were covered with blood. He gives no reason for the crime.
Mrs. Wilson's maiden name was Ella Gloyd and her home is at Canton, where she was married to Wilson about three weeks ago. Her throat is gashed in two places and she is yet alive, but cannot recover.
Wilson was a resident of this city until three years ago when he went to Akron. He drove a delivery wagon here for the Adams Express Co. He is employed on the canal. He is a brother to Col. Wilson, who is employed at Eggert's grocery.
